Best beaches for visitors?

What

Jul. 23, 2008 at 10:22am

It's no surprise - Ocean Shores and North Beach have great beaches.  Which ones are you favorites, and why?  Where would you send someone for beachcombing?  How about kite flying or building sand castles?

Let the planning team know where you think the best spots are - it will help with the planning process and you might even learn something from one of your neighbors!

Seabrook has 2 public beach accesses and is building a 3rd soon. The Oceanfront has been designed for a wide public esplanade along the oceanfront for all of the public to enjoy. The design style of these trails and paths is the old 1920's National Park Style. It would be a good one to adapt for the "natural" look of the rugged WA Coast all the way from Moclips down to Ocean Shorts

Beach Combing is best at the South end of Ocean Shores at the old Damon park. The parking lot is gone now so just park along side the road and walk out to the beach[1/4 mile].
Lots of shells, pretty drift wood and findings.

Pacific Beach next to the State Park has a Sand Castle Contest second week end in May every year. Masters demonstrate and kids and adults compete, for prizes and trophies. Great fun for everyone.

I am partial to the beach between Pacific Beach and Moclips as it is less crowded than farther South, and can be driven on for those who cannot get out and walk down to the sand.

The picture you show at the top of your home page is an area with one of the best views of the North Coast, however the brush on the west side of the guardrail is too high for giving the best views.
It would alo be great for tourism to have a walking/bicycle trail along 109 between Seabrook and Moclips and even better between Copalis and Moclips.

Copalis Rock is the most interesting sight south of Point Grenville. However, it's rather hard to get to. Is there any possibility of putting a public road or trail through in the Copalis State Airport area or through Iron Springs?
